We’ve been coming to Oppa Sushi and Korean every week, and we’ve never once been disappointed. Grand Rapids has no shortage of Asian fusion spots, but this one is easily the best in the area. What really sets Oppa apart is the hospitality. Mr. Kim has our order — which is far from simple — memorized by heart, and he greets us with a genuine smile every single visit. That kind of attentiveness and warmth is rare, and it’s a big part of why we keep coming back week after week. Between the consistently excellent food and the genuinely friendly service, we can’t say enough good things about this place. If you’re looking for the best sushi and Korean fusion in Grand Rapids, this is it.

First time visiting is (apparently) their [new] location after moving up the street. Atmosphere is slightly “bland” and the floors were sticky and music is played on a speaker (not necessarily background music either). Party tried the spicy California, tempura shrimp, and steamed dumplings. The spicy California was not spicy and when a side of spicy mayo was requested, was charged $1 for it. Service was decent. Coke products listed on menu.

Haven’t been to this restaurant since they moved from their old neighbors, IHOP. I was definitely craving some pho but opted for shrimp tempura udon noodles. Kids wanted sushi and crab rangoon. This crab rangoon exceeds expectations because they actually have crab meat in them!! I feel like the only one in town actually! I loved the soup as it was super hot in temperature from the hot bowl, and the tempura veggies and shrimp made this soup extra and yummy. The sushi was fresh and delicious!! Best sushi in the NW side of town. The atmosphere was cozy. If they sold alcohol I could see this spot being busier, but my kids input was that it seems teenager friendly along with the K-pop music so keep it that way. Overall service was ok, as it wasn’t busy, but hope that service is better if it’s busy.

This place is a MUST if you like Korean and Japanese food. Everything is fresh made and SO delicious! Sushi is fantastic and superior selection. Gyoza dumplings were perfect, and the fried rice is some of the best I've ever had. Highly suggest that if you haven't tried it, GO NOW!! Our server was really friendly, helpful, and sweet. We will for sure be back!

Update: I have ordered from Oppa several times since my first review. It's one of my new favorite places. Today was the very first time I dined in. The service was amazing! The food tasted even better due to presentation and not being taken out, and the atmosphere has a chill vibe that I love! The homemade dumplings were delicious, and the sushi bento box was amazing. You've seriously got to check this place out! Original review: Their sushi is amazing! I do think some of their menu items are priced just slightly too high, but it's competitive with every other sushi place in Grand Rapids. The first time I ever went, I accidentally ordered way too much, not knowing how big their rolls were, but none of it went to waste. As a matter of fact, I went back for lunch just days later. This is definitely going to be a regular spot for me!
